Over the winter holidays last year two of our very lucky sitters, Brydie and Carly spent a month nannying in Europe with two families from our Melbourne community. The girls looked after two different families for two weeks each to lend a helping hand to the parents during their holiday, and the families absolutely loved having them!

For the first trip, the girls were paired with a family of five boys between the ages of 6 months and 12 years. The family and the girls spent one week in the South of France and another in Tuscany. On this trip, the girls occupied the boys by keeping them active out in the sunshine; swimming in the pool, and having a lot of fun picking and watering the fresh veggies in the veggie garden. On the days that the family had planned day trips to places close by, including Siena, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, and Monte Carlo, the girls went along to help ensure that the days ran smoothly for mum and dad. In the evening, the girls were there to put the boys to bed while mum and dad enjoyed a night out on their own in the beautiful french countryside.

Brydie:

“It was an unforgettable experience and the best thing I've ever done! I learnt a lot about nannying kids in a foreign environment and the different precautions you have to take”

On the second trip the girls looked after another family of five children, however on this trip they were in Italy, sailing around the Amalfi Coast, visiting the neighbouring Aeolian islands and wandering around the spectacular surroundings to visit a couple famous attractions. Whilst sailing the coast, the girls would watch out for the kids whilst they swam in the water and took turns on the waterslides. Brydie and Carly even got to join in on the water activities, making it a fun trip for everyone!

Carly:

“We’d be playing games and then I’d look to my side, and there would just be the most amazing coastline surrounding us. It’s not every day that you play hide and seek with a stunning backdrop”

On the nights when the parents were home and the kids were well looked after, the girls were given the freedom to go out and roam around the cities on their own and enjoy the Italian nightlife.

It was an amazing opportunity for the two nannies to travel internationally and work with our amazing families who utterly cherished their help, especially the parents who had the chance to enjoy some rare downtime whilst on holiday.
