Craft Club: Matchbox Comics

Lockdown might be over but cinemas are still yet to be given the green light. Encourage the kids to get creative and create their own 'cinema experience' at home with a matchbox comic! It will be on a rather smaller scale but all the best shows are on the program: their very own masterpieces!

You will need:

  • Template (or blank paper you can cut up into strips!)

  • Matchbox

  • Pencils, markers, crayons, paint - anything you can draw with, as long as it’s colourful!

  • Scissors

  • Glue or tape

  1. Download and print the attached template. Cut out the thin strips of paper; these will create your comic strip.

  2. Draw your story in the boxes, using each box for a new scene.

  3. Glue tab A to edge A, creating one long strip.

  4. In the outer cover of your matchbox cut a rectangle window, so that you can see into the matchbox when you slide it back over the inner case. If you like, you can paint or cover your matchbox with coloured paper during this step.

  5. Thread your comic through the gap through the outer cover so that you can see your comic through the window you cut.

  6. Glue tab B to edge B so that your comic is now in a loop and you can watch it over and over!
